The best horror twist is the one that makes you replay the whole story in your head, and Hidden (2015) earns that kind of second look. We start with a family locked in a bunker for 301 days, listening to “breathers” stomp and hiss above them, rationing food, clinging to routine, and trying to keep their daughter calm when the walls feel like they are closing in. It’s survival horror at its most personal: not a war, not a hero quest, just the daily grind of staying quiet and staying sane.

Then we pull apart the movie’s core trick: what you think you’re afraid of is not what you should be afraid of. We talk about how the film uses darkness, night vision glow, and limited perspective to sell “monsters,” and why the reveal hits so hard when you realize who the infected really are. That leads to the question we can’t stop circling: if you lose control for even a second, are you still the person you think you are?

Along the way, we get nerdy about survival details and the stuff that breaks morale fast: fire in a confined space, noise discipline, food storage logic, and the tiny human “spaz moments” that would get you killed in any quiet-world scenario. If you like movie reviews, plot twists, bunker stories, zombie infection lore, and survival psychology, this one is for you. Subscribe, share the episode with a friend who loves horror, and leave a review telling us whether the twist worked on you.

Two Episodes, Three Erics

SPEAKER_02

Hello, survivors, and welcome back to another episode of Will You Survive the Podcast. Uh, and today we are doing something very, very special. Uh, we are recording two episodes in one night. This is episode one. Whoa! Gosh. Totally won't be next week when we're all tired on the fucking podcast. You'll know why.

SPEAKER_00

No, there wouldn't be an energy drop-off.

SPEAKER_02

No, there would be a lot of things.

SPEAKER_00

When has there ever been?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no.

SPEAKER_00

I've never heard of that happening. I've never been tired.

SPEAKER_02

As you can hear, I am joined by two other people. If you haven't seen the podcast before, you wouldn't know that their names are Eric.

SPEAKER_00

It's all been in your head the whole time. They're both named Eric. Uh, so it it would be funny. It wouldn't be funny. It would be horrifying for Maddie if you were just recording this podcast on your own the whole time. We've never been real.

SPEAKER_02

She's like, I can't wait to meet this Eric guy and this Alex guy. And we're joined by Alex! That's me! Today we're schizophrenic.

SPEAKER_00

I'm setting the tone. Yeah. So when we become schizophrenic later, they'd be like, Well, we were prepared. Yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_02

True. Every episode we add a different person.

SPEAKER_01

And we're joined by Alex, Eric, and Marvin. Say hi, Marvin. George. Ben.

SPEAKER_02

And Tyler. It's that episode of uh That guy's here. It's that episode of Rick and Morty where there's a bunch of like aliens that pretend to be like you like pretend that you know them.

SPEAKER_01

Like, oh, you remember me? I'm Mr. Comblacalorp. I was your fucking your best man at your wedding.

SPEAKER_03

That's what I was I was gonna get at. We get Maddie in on this for like a Halloween prank on TJ and Photoshop you out of every photo.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's like the office.

SPEAKER_03

He wasn't married. You didn't marry them.

SPEAKER_00

And she's like, we have to get her looking at the camera like what they just replaced me with an Asian guy in every picture. Like, dude, Eric's Asian. Wild.

SPEAKER_02

Uh so Asian Eric. Uh we we we are talking about the movie Hidden from 2015.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know why being me being Asian has anything to do with that movie, but Eric's Asian now.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Uh Alex, would you like to read the synopsis? Sure.

SPEAKER_03

But I I will say 2015. 2015. If they haven't seen it, you know, just kind of them.

SPEAKER_00

Careful. Come on, dude. It's within 11 years. They might not have had a chance to see it yet.

SPEAKER_03

Which which is making me wonder, did we do a spoiler alert last week?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. We did.

SPEAKER_03

Or last last week.

SPEAKER_02

For a project, Hail Mary? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We had the woo woo woo woo.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. Oh,

Project Hail Mary And Rocky

SPEAKER_02

you can't. Okay, okay. Yeah, no, I got rid of that and now it's this.

SPEAKER_00

What's between those legs, huh? I have no idea when I said that. And I don't know the context.

SPEAKER_03

Hold on. Before I move on to uh to hidden, I do want to tell you, uh, I was trying to get my son, who's little, into Project Hail Mary because I thought he would dig on Rocky. And he didn't like fully get into the movie, but when it was just uh Brian Goss and Grace and Rocky, I would notice he would just stand at the Ottoman and like lean on it and watch the the TV. And the part that I saw him like secretly liking was the part that you sent when Eric announced the movie in the group chat. Amaze, amaze, amaze. He started sitting there, like I saw the smile on his face, and I was like, You do like this. Rocky's funny, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Rocky is funny. Rocky's gold, dude.

SPEAKER_03

And there was a there was a golden part that I did not catch, and this was probably obvious to you two, but I thought it was a great little throwback. I caught it right at the at the end, was when that evil lady asked him to be the one to go into outer space after the other the whole crew died. And he said, Can I think about it? And she said, You have three minutes. Thirty minutes. Thirty minutes? I think she said thirty minutes. And uh when he when Rocky told him, you know, okay, the scientists are ready to to send you back to Earth, he said, uh, can I think about it? He said, Take a long time. Oh think about it long time.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't catch that.

SPEAKER_03

So that was thanks, thanks to my my little buddy who uh actually pulled through and watched the whole movie with me.

SPEAKER_02

That was very sick.

SPEAKER_03

Oh dude! That would be hilarious.

SPEAKER_02

It'd be sick.

SPEAKER_03

Then if I could teach him, because he already speaks broken like that. Amaze, amaze, amaze.

SPEAKER_00

Bad, bad, bad, bad.

SPEAKER_03

Or that's not half bad. No, full good.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. On to our current movie. Wait, okay, can I derail this one more time? We have the time. Derail. Do we have the time? Do we have the time? We have the time. Producer, do we have time? I think we're eight minutes in, and I think five of that was was us clapping. So um clapping cheeks. I think on recording.

SPEAKER_02

Do you not record every time?

SPEAKER_03

I do. I was like, wow. I don't use this mic. You don't want to look at my external hard drive.

SPEAKER_00

You pull down my boom mic.

SPEAKER_02

It's on my roof. I pull out my super eight camera and get to recording.

SPEAKER_00

Pull out, I press a button and a hatch opens on my ceiling. I just know. Only time I'm pulling out, really. Nice.

SPEAKER_03

Good one.

SPEAKER_00

So that's not what I derailed us

Halloween Costumes And Tiny Horror Fans

SPEAKER_00

to say. What I derailed us is for something far less funny, actually. I was just gonna say, I think it'd be really cool to be one of the monsters from a quiet place for Halloween. Oh like to go all out. That'd be pretty sick. It would have to be like an extension off of your body and your arms control the arms with like pegs or something. Yeah, like like ropes.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I've d I've definitely seen there's like a like some Instagram videos of like people like walking on all fours and they have like stilts, you know, to like you could do it.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sure some scares at Knott's Berry Farm are to do a kind of similar thing.

SPEAKER_02

You could have your little brother hold a little uh little firetruck.

SPEAKER_00

That'd be so fucked up and so funny. That'd be such a good costume.

SPEAKER_03

That would be ridiculous. You know what I what I do gotta say about that though is my my son is the one who's taking over. He's gonna want, yeah, it was the spaceship, but firetruck would work. Um he's wanting to take over the themed Halloweens. It's been my daughter, and so now he wants to be Pennywise the Clown.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I I would say, I gotta say, thanks, Mom. Because she showed him uh the trailer for Jaws, she showed him the trailer for it, and she showed him the trailer for When a Stranger Calls.

SPEAKER_00

She's just microdosing him on horror.

SPEAKER_03

He's a a three-year-old who walks up, and you know, three-year-olds already have eerie voices, and in his high-pitched little voice, he goes, Have you checked the children?

SPEAKER_00

He walked up to me and he was uh he said something like, I'm gonna be Pennywise, and I was like, What the fuck?

SPEAKER_02

Like, how do you know about Pennywise? You know about Pennywise standing over you. Would you like a balloon?

SPEAKER_03

He got that from the the uh YouTube channel, right? I I I won't quote it because I I don't think I'll get the name right, but it's it's the guy says his channel name. Don't forget to subscribe to the the channel and he says, or you'll float too. He does it, he comes and says it. I was like, You creepy little kid.

SPEAKER_02

Rare, cozy moment. I I do go. Cozy. Cozy cozy, step back down, pays him, get the fuck back on your feet.

SPEAKER_00

He don't he has no respect for me. He doesn't listen to me.

SPEAKER_03

He doesn't listen to me. He doesn't even say hi to me in the morning.

SPEAKER_00

No, he doesn't he looks so shaggy and just like that that coat looks made and not.

SPEAKER_02

He looks damaged.

SPEAKER_03

That that's my

Dogs, Kids, And Midnight Chaos

SPEAKER_03

that's my favorite. That my uh my buddy had told me, you know, do you call your dog or does do people call you your dog's daddy? And I go, no, I don't, I don't go for that. I go master. No, he's my son. He goes, that's funny, master. Me too. But uh have you ever noticed the irony? Like what irony? It's like, hey master, feed me. Hey master, take me for a walk. Hey master, pick that up for me, throw it away.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, hey master, I made a mess. You should clean that up.

SPEAKER_03

You should clean that up. You should get on that.

SPEAKER_00

It makes me feel better when it's hey dad, I made a mess. You fucker. Yeah, you know. I love my dog so much, but nah, he's like, he's like in some ways. I see, I've worked with child uh I've worked with child and I've worked with children. Okay, Rocky. And I've I worked with child. I live with child.

SPEAKER_03

I work with child? Question mark.

SPEAKER_00

I work with child statement. I live with child statement. And I live with two child statements. Dogs are very similar to kids. Not quite, they're not exactly the same, but you know, I I think you'll relate to this. Just in the middle, you just hear Oh yeah. And you're like, no, no, no, no, no. That's gotta be similar to to your kid in the middle of the night going, Dad, Dad, what? I frew up. Yeah. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Nah, cause like blankets would go missing when I was a kid because I would just fucking throw them bitches away. Why? One, because we didn't have a washer and dryer in the apartment, so we would have to go to you know the laundromat. So like, you know. And we weren't the you know, we weren't very uh not poor. Uh so you weren't very not poor? Uh well we weren't very not poor, but we weren't very, you know. So I was I was just like, yo, I don't want to wake my mom up.

SPEAKER_01

She's gonna yell at me.

SPEAKER_02

So RP to the blue dolphin blanket, mom. If you're listening, that's where it went. It went in the trash. Middle middle of the night. Threw that bitch in a bag. Well, actually, no, I folded that bitch up till it was day, and then I put I put it like under a shelf, and then I put it in a bag and then threw it away. Damn. You said I don't know where that went. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_00

That was a really good the aliens must have taken that shit.

SPEAKER_03

That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_00

Right out the window. I would

Hidden Synopsis And First Impressions

SPEAKER_00

have gone to the show.

SPEAKER_02

Guys, we're talking we're talking about the movie Hidden from 1200. Okay, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_03

The movie Hidden in the film, Ray, Claire, and their seven-year-old daughter Zoe are an average American family in Kingsville, North Carolina. Except they have existed in a bomb shelter since escaping a day of devastation that has chained every changed everything. For 301 days, they have transformed their cement prison into a home, holding on to memories of the past and hope for a normal life someday. And for 301 days, the family has eluded what looms above the surface. The heavy breathing and booming footsteps that punctuate the night, threatening their fragile existence. All the while, the family has managed to stay hidden until now. Now that their safe haven has been breached and something is coming for them.

SPEAKER_00

Can I ask a question?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Quick fire. How old do you guys think the little girl is? Ten.

SPEAKER_03

How old did I think she was in this? Yeah. I I I thought she was older than seven. I how old? I don't know. I don't want to steal TJ's answer, but I 11, 12.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, yeah, she was 12.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, she was 12.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, in real life. So she was playing.

SPEAKER_03

Damn, she was little.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I didn't guess that. I you know she I thought she was around like eight. I thought that seemed like right. Because I thought she was like, she's small.

SPEAKER_03

She was little.

SPEAKER_00

She has like a very young face.

SPEAKER_03

So I thought she was like a young face, eight or nine baby. Interesting.

SPEAKER_00

So that that was shocking to me. I'm like, damn, she was 12. That I feel like she was playing those little girl roles fucking for a while because she was like, fuck it, milk it.

SPEAKER_03

Stunted.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I an experienced actor who looks super young.

SPEAKER_02

So they're like, wow, we can get a kid who can actually like that where they play somebody who's like fucking way, way younger.

SPEAKER_03

Like Paul Rudd, who still plays a teenager today. Paul Rudd's crazy. He's a vampire. Ralph Macchio.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, dude. He doesn't fucking age. When he look when he was like 30, he looked like 20. 17. Yeah. Like ridiculous. Uh oh uh fucking what's his name? Eric Eric, you ever watch Hannah Montana? Oh, Billy Ray Cyrus? Her brother in that show was he's played played by a fucking 30-year-old. Like a 30-year-old.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the guy who got picked up by John Cena. Yeah. Anyways.

SPEAKER_03

Like literally picked up?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It was more like hired. No, like picked up.

SPEAKER_03

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

In the movie. Or like in the in the show. Um, and it's funny because he's talked about it and he was like, Yeah, we're the same age, and there's me who looks like a child, and then there's John Cena standing next to me, picking me up.

SPEAKER_02

And we're the same age. Way older now. Motherfucker's aging. See how he walk, bro? He walks like he it hurts.

SPEAKER_03

The bones hurt. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's what that's what gives it away.

SPEAKER_02

You could see you could tell he was uh, you know. In a physical sport. In a physical sport. The way that motherfucker walks. And you can tell. I buy that.

SPEAKER_03

You can tell that I was not.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, you played uh you played table tennis.

SPEAKER_03

Shuffleboard.

SPEAKER_00

He wasn't a sport. It wasn't a contact sport.

SPEAKER_03

I was a fucking state champion. Shuffleboard, baby.

SPEAKER_00

Actually. That feels like that feels like the most California thing to sell.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna say. It's like, yeah, we did what's that one with the fucking brooms and the stone on ice?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, uh a curling.

SPEAKER_02

Curling? Curling. What the fuck is that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

So who came up with that? I don't know. Canadians. I just want to be one of the people vigorously just like which like they have an important role, apparently, that like heats the ice up to like make it smoother, I guess. Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_03

They yeah, they they aim to heat it up and to rough it up at the point where they want it to slow down. So they they have two jobs and they use their one tool to do both.

SPEAKER_02

Wow, what heroes? So in this movie, they were uh actually curling. Uh you know, this is a uh they were putting a Canadian curling movie. They were yeah, they were putting together a Nigerian curling team.

SPEAKER_03

Um Nigerian oh nice! I see what you're doing here.

SPEAKER_02

And uh, you know, it it was cool brumin. Cool brumin is fucking fire. Write that shit down, bro.

The Twist And Who The Monsters Are

SPEAKER_02

Uh this is a zombie movie.

SPEAKER_03

Essentially, it's that's not bad. Is it? Do they die? They I mean, no, it's definitely in the movie.

SPEAKER_02

We're not gonna say it's an infected movie, but they're but it it's a zombie.

SPEAKER_03

You get the you get the point that's being made. They are uh less human than they are monster.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Where are they? Yeah, spoiler warning, just because you know we always jump to the fucking end. Uh the people in the bunker are the zombies.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they were the monsters.

SPEAKER_02

The the the they're scared of the breathers the whole time. The breathers are regular normal like soldier dudes. I thought that's a good thing.

SPEAKER_00

I thought that was a really cool twist because the whole time I was like, Yeah, these are some heavy breathing monsters that have like this super strength and and like killed the dad down there. Like, that's crazy. Like where I'm kind of like still like, what the hell? Is how did they rip that that bunker door open? Crane?

SPEAKER_02

I uh yeah, I imagine maybe they had a a tank or something to like strap it to.

SPEAKER_03

Even the helicopter?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, maybe, but like I don't know. The I guess if it was for the riding, the parents kind of played dumb. They were like, How are they so strong? So I guess maybe that was just like a are they using the fucking exosuits?

SPEAKER_02

We don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I guess so. I mean it didn't look like it.

SPEAKER_02

They got they got beat up maybe they have a different strain of the virus in them that doesn't make them lose control but still gives them the attributes.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm gonna go with no, because they all got beat the hell up.

SPEAKER_02

They did, they didn't know.

SPEAKER_00

They all got like one shot. Yeah, yeah, it was not good for them.

SPEAKER_02

I see why they're trying to get rid of all these people.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. If one can do that, you don't need a trailer park dude to kind of just lose his temper in a Walmart and rip the heads off of 20 people.

SPEAKER_03

That's everything.

SPEAKER_02

Also, first place you carbon bomb is the entire town and not where everybody is.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right. Well, they were telling everybody to go back to the city.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like for two seconds. Everybody go back to the city. You're like, go back, go back. Ooh, still go back, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Keep going back. It's okay. It's fine. Fire is not real. It's fine. That's part of your virus mind. You don't know.

SPEAKER_03

We know what's better for you. I'm from the government. I'm here to help.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, one of one of the good ones is like control your emotions or like don't get too don't lose control. I like that so they're deeper than we thought of the movie. Over and over again. But like you didn't really like put it together till the end. Yeah, I oh I can't show that, can I?

SPEAKER_03

It's just apple juice.

SPEAKER_02

You're right. Yeah, it's it's it's caramel.

SPEAKER_00

I'm a connoisseur of apples of apple juice.

SPEAKER_02

This is this is uh cider from Northwestern.

SPEAKER_00

That's um that's Mott's.

SPEAKER_02

Apple sauce.

SPEAKER_00

Uh apple juice. It's Bulgarian. That's a brand, right? Yeah. I pulled that out of my butt. I didn't know. Sounded right. It's Mott's applesauce at least.

SPEAKER_02

Um sounds like a sex move. Bulgarian apple squeeze. Oh, yeah, that does. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's uh that also sounds like some sort of like Bulgarian countrywide event that would happen. All the Bulgarians in the world gather in woods. Oh, you're going to Bulgaria, you gotta check out the Bulgarian apple squeeze. Dude, you gotta check the frickin' apple squeeze. All these guys just grab apples between their hands and just brrr! Just squeeze it. It's fucking sick.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, well, I would go to see that.

SPEAKER_00

I would, actually. I'm not even knocking it. It does sound like some random European thing that would fucking be there, but I would go look at it. I know there's a technique to it.

SPEAKER_02

There is a technique. I have two techniques actually. There's the one where you hold it like this and you fucking break it like that, or the funnier one where you're like, guys, watch this. It's gonna be great, right? They get the apple, they set it on the table, and then you just get your finger like this, you put it above it, and you just fucking wallop that shit as hard as you can, and it fucking shoots across the room like that. That's pretty funny. That's that's like my favorite thing. It's like you line it up with your one finger and then just go, blah! It's like, I bet you I could break this apple in half with my bare hands. Like, no, you can't. Five bucks. Alright. Set the apple down.

SPEAKER_00

Ma no, it doesn't count as breaking it in half if it becomes mostly mush.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, like, if you hit it hard enough, only a little bit cup becomes mush, and then it just kind of separates and shoots off both ways.

SPEAKER_00

It is I feel like that's just I think I I feel like it's more just you gotta commit to it, and it's not that hard.

SPEAKER_02

Why are we still growing red delicious apples? I feel like there needs to be a hate those apples. Just yeah, I want my apples with a set of wax paper on them.

SPEAKER_03

Wax paper and just mealy inside. I mean, it's applesauce without the juice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it really is. I didn't realize those were the those were what those apples are, but you describe it and I know exactly which toxic I want.

SPEAKER_02

Which one? I said, Yeah, give me some grit. I want some gripples. That's oh, yeah, no, exactly.

SPEAKER_03

No, my favorite are the uh cosmic crisp or the um Fuji.

SPEAKER_02

Have you ever had that apples that taste like grape? No. They had those for a minute. They they're literally.

SPEAKER_03

Does it taste like grape Jolly Ranchers?

SPEAKER_02

Or like Yeah, like they they so basically they just like soak it in fucking grape flavoring. But there's uh there's a YouTuber I watched the way that he did it, so there's like the certain chemical they use for grape flavoring is also in a thing called bird stop. I guess birds don't like the flavor, so they like you know they make a product that stops them from doing something. I don't know. So this guy just like gets this bird stop and just starts soaking apples in it, and he's like, We're making grapples. And it worked, I guess. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

That doesn't sound even remarkable.

SPEAKER_02

I never had them, but appetizing. I don't know. I have yo, cotton candy grapes though? Welcome back to the fruit cast. Cotton candy. Have you ever had cotton candy grapes?

SPEAKER_03

No. Is that real?

SPEAKER_02

It's a type of grape and legitimate. I mean, like after you're eating them, you don't really taste the cotton candy, but like that first grape though, there's a cotton candy flavor. Okay. That one I think. I don't think they soak it in cotton candy flavoring.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't know. Unless I'm wrong. Either of those. I'm more of a Granny Smith guy.

SPEAKER_03

You are?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I'm a Granny Smith guy for specific uses. I love Granny Smith for desserts because there's so much sugar put in it that tartness is a good cut.

SPEAKER_00

Caramel apples. A good sour apple.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, a good a caramel apple with Granny Smith, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I just love a good sour apple. I think it's great.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I love like I love the tartness of it. Those are that or like fucking honey crisp is like you know, that's like the standard.

SPEAKER_00

I love to feel the burn on my lips after eating a granny smith.

SPEAKER_02

I like my stomach to kind of eat an apple.

SPEAKER_03

Apples. Why are your lips burning?

SPEAKER_02

They're very sour. You might be allergic, tummy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I like them. Yo, are all apples spicy? What? What are you talking about?

SPEAKER_00

No, it's not like spicy. No, it's the same thing that happens to me with pineapples. But this is why I don't like pineapple. Pineapple's too acidic for for me. My lips burn. Oh, I love pineapple. But pineapple is true. It's eating you back.

SPEAKER_02

Pineapple is not have any sort of meat.

SPEAKER_00

I feel very sensitive to pineapple, but when I eat granny Smith, it's not it's not like a burn might be the wrong, but it's like my mouth is all sour, so it's all tingly. It's not an allergy, I swear. Dog, we might have to take you for an allergy test.

SPEAKER_03

We're checking his lips.

SPEAKER_02

The next time he eats a Granny Smith, they're all puffed and a Granny to face a podcast, dude. We gotta dude. I like the way my throat gets kind of tight whenever I eat.

SPEAKER_03

It's like somebody's choking me. I like it.

SPEAKER_00

It's like if I put a lemon head in my mouth, or not that's not even sour enough. Like one of those super sour candy.

SPEAKER_02

Love the way my eyes water whenever I eat an apple. It's that's not what happens.

SPEAKER_00

That might not be the right word for it. I don't know how to describe it. It's just because it's sour.

SPEAKER_02

There was this Reddit post where they were like I'm still sensitive to it. Hey guys, uh I, you know, can't really, you know, I don't understand why people are saying I'm weird for this, but like, do you get you guys like the spiciness of peanut butter, right?

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And then turns out they're highly allergic to fucking peanut butter. Yeah, they're like, I've got peanut.

SPEAKER_00

Or they were like, I like, you know, are the something about like their boyfriend like peanut butter, and they're like, oh yeah, like, you know, or I'm not in the mood for anything spicy right now. And he was like, What? And she was like, Oh, I just don't I don't really want something spicy right now. He goes, What do you mean? Peanut butter's not spicy, and she goes, Yeah, it is. And so that's where that whole thing started.

SPEAKER_03

That's freaking funny.

SPEAKER_02

And then they it turned like they uh they found out they were allergic, and then now they do like some like peanut butter substitute, but they put fucking like chili sauce in it because they like the spice.

SPEAKER_04

Oh that's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

I can't imagine spicy peanut butter. Can't imagine your parents being so ass that they didn't notice you were allergic to peanut butter.

SPEAKER_03

Peanut allergy. I've never had that.

SPEAKER_02

I've never had a most basic allergy.

SPEAKER_03

I have a tree nut allergy, but it's very mild. I will get nauseously sick with a horrifying, debilitating headache, but that's it. I don't go into anaphylactic shock or anything like that. I will break out in rash, too.

SPEAKER_02

One is if I eat too much movie theater popcorn. Whatever they put on the popcorn, it makes my throat scratchy.

SPEAKER_03

That fake butter.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I don't think I had any out there. Flavicall is what it's called.

SPEAKER_03

Flavicall. Yeah. Oh, maybe that's in that maybe that's in the salt, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's like whatever they dust it with that makes it. That's like seasonal.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. It's a different, it's not really, it's not like just salt. It's it's got some other like flavor crystals.

SPEAKER_02

But like, yeah, whatever, whatever's in it, if I eat too much of it, then I start fucking throat getting scratchy. But I haven't done it yet. That's like my favorite favorite thing too. I love fucking movie popcorn.

SPEAKER_03

Movie theater popcorn. I love it. You know, I won't do it just because it's ridiculously expensive and I'm against giving them that money. But dude, I I have enjoyed movie theater popcorn, and I am the most anti-popcorn person. I don't like popcorn. I don't, so I'm like, they think they put something addictive in there. You're lucky that you're allergic to it.

SPEAKER_00

I will never make popcorn for myself, but if it's there, I will eat it. True.

SPEAKER_03

Really? Yeah. I do the caramel corn or the cheddar corn, but I won't do like regular buttered popcorn.

SPEAKER_02

My uh my family every year for Christmas would always get those fucking tubs of popcorn. Yes!

SPEAKER_00

The kettle corn ones are so I love kettle corn.

SPEAKER_02

I love kettle corn.

SPEAKER_00

I love cheddar popcorn.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, cheddar popcorn's like the top tier. You know what's really good on popcorn? What? MSG.

SPEAKER_00

Oh. MSG is good on everything. MSG is good on it. It makes everything taste good.

SPEAKER_02

But for s Maddie fucking hates MSG. Every time I have like popcorn, it'll add a little bit on it, you know? Uh and she uh she's like, let me get some. And I give her some. She's like, uh I think it tastes like MSG on noodles, dude. Yeah, dude. You know, all the white people were crying about it though. That's why it's you know kind of No, it gives me headaches. Yes, it will.

SPEAKER_03

Why don't you you know drink some water, Sharon?

SPEAKER_02

Sharon is a fictional character, TikTok. Do not ban me for harassment.

SPEAKER_00

You just have to dilute the MSG, Sharon, with the water.

SPEAKER_03

Just drink some freaking water, you're dehydrated.

SPEAKER_02

Literally.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, MSG sucks all of the water out of your body and your cells individually.

SPEAKER_02

Speaking of food, how the hell did that rat bite through them cans? I don't think I've ever seen it.

SPEAKER_03

You know what? It will happen.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly like that.

SPEAKER_03

Rats will bite through. I don't believe that they wouldn't have heard it, because it would make a lot of noise.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you know what I thought was hilarious, speaking of that scene. When they're picking up the cans to find out how many have been eaten, I'm like, I feel like you don't have to check for the hole. Is it empty?

SPEAKER_03

Is it empty? It's light. It will pick it up.

SPEAKER_00

Does it have any weight to it? Yep. No, then it ain't it.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

But she would like pick it up and like look around for the hole. I'm like, you can feel.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I have another problem with it is there's liquid up to the top. Canning no stains. Part of the process of canning is to fill it so there's no oxygen. Oxygen is what breeds the bacteria, right? You fill up the can to block out the oxygen because that's where the the bacteria breathe. So once that rat punctured, you would have it would have made a mess.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. They would have noticed.

SPEAKER_03

It would have been on the floor. Especially 12 cans. 12 cans, exactly. Now it was very dim and stuff, but what it would have done is it would have brought ants, it would have brought a whole lot of they would have known. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean, minor detail. Um, on the topic of like survival for this movie, because we are we are a survival podcast.

Morale, Fire, And Bunker Reality

SPEAKER_00

That's right. Kind of. Um, I genuinely think the hardest part of any survival scenario, but especially this one, is morale.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Once that fire happened, I don't know if I keep going after that. That's rough. That that's a very demoralizing moment right there.

SPEAKER_03

What specifically about the fire itself demoralizes you?

SPEAKER_00

Uh like the little girl lost her game. She lost uh they they lost like their whole table, like it ruined the the whole environment around them. It's full of ash and smoke. And then when you find out that the smoke was going out and that the things might see you, it's like holy shit, that that it's game over. Okay. Like that just demoralizes me completely.

SPEAKER_02

Cozy. This this is why you have stuff to deal with fires in your bunker. Like a fire extinguisher or a fire blanket. A fire blanket would have taken care of that quick.

SPEAKER_00

To be fair, this was not their their bunker. True. Can we talk about where this bunker was? School.

SPEAKER_02

What? School and it had enough food for them for like 301 days. Yep. So I imagine the school it was for like, you know, some disaster or something. It was like cold war time. But there was only like three.

SPEAKER_00

So why would an elementary school have a fallout bunker?

SPEAKER_03

Well, we used to do that even here.

SPEAKER_02

That's what she called it. Yeah. A fallout bunker would have some sort of fallout. You're right.

SPEAKER_03

But it was a good uh a storm shelter. Yeah. And being in North Carolina, uh uh a hurricane shelter would have made sense.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, also fucking kids. I don't know about how they're gonna get down there with the fucking ladder.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's survival of the fittest.

SPEAKER_03

Well, drop little Johnny down, he doesn't need his chair. They were up in the cliffs, they were up in the mountains. Yeah, okay, so there's no there's no storm surge gonna get them there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, besides just for me just feeling like why? I mean, it just feels very convenient. But also, um she knew exactly where it was. Yeah, did they ever describe that?

SPEAKER_03

No.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe she's a teacher or something.

SPEAKER_03

Maybe. Yeah, they didn't know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, she teaches a little she was a teacher.

SPEAKER_03

She did.

SPEAKER_02

That that would make sense. What the fuck did the dad do? I feel like the entire movie he was just kind of trying to not have his daughter go psycho.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, which you know it makes sense. Once you have, yeah, you're like, oh, a lot of his actions make a lot of sense. Also, look, I get it, the mom's a human too. She was stressing as well. She was remarkably unhelpful in a lot of those moments. Where like I I I very much understood her, where she told the little girl, like, if you don't stop crying, they're going to find us. Oh yeah. I'm like, I get it. That doesn't feel like that's what's gonna make her stop crying in that moment.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, we we have to keep the little murder demon uh calm, or else it will uh murder demon.

SPEAKER_03

Come out. Yeah, even and and you saw it. That and I I realized afterwards that was more of what the mom was doing than just it wasn't singularly don't let them hear you, it's also don't lose control of yourself because when you do, you'll kill even us. You saw that happen.

SPEAKER_00

She almost did.

SPEAKER_03

She I mean, she freaking tackled her, man. That was pretty gnarly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And okay, quick question Was that more brutal of them to leave the soldier alive?

SPEAKER_00

I think so.

SPEAKER_03

So the little girl jumps onto the soldier, rips his mask off, infects him, and the mom tells her, Don't let him live. It's like, Well, you know that the soldiers are gonna just kill him.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's almost like to send a message. Maybe.

SPEAKER_02

You know, is as soon as she would have ripped my mask off, I would have just started you gotta start running at that point. Or like, you know, I guess I'm one of you. You know, like he also has a gun, I guess you could it could have ended it all.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Or if he's really petty, he could have, you know. Becomes uh uh like a vigilante against them. Yeah. He's like, I'm one of them.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, like a blade. They'll trust me. But way less cool. Way less cool. But uh the breathers was kind of a good name for I thought it, you know, when I first watched this.

SPEAKER_03

They seem just so much larger, and I didn't quite understand the glowing eyes.

SPEAKER_02

The fear factor that upped their you know, scaredness of them. Yeah. But the glowing eyes, I imagine, is because you know it was the goggles. Yeah, the night vision goggles. And it's probably like soot and shit in the air still.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was it was so great, they they made it kind of look like am I wrong to say it kind of look like weapons? No, that no, there's a there's another movie where that same kind of face where it's like a black a very hazy black figure with like yellow scrapie eyes. It it's not Call of Duty zombies, but it's like kind of similar in that sense. There's another movie that kind of does a a similar thing. I I I was full convinced these were monsters. I was so convinced that the monsters took over the world and they were the last humans remaining. And to find out that it was actually the other way around was a very interesting plot twist.

SPEAKER_03

I also like the fact that you saw the um I would say in their desperation when the girl was kind of losing control and the mom sent her to the periscope, even though she was like, No, dad said never look. She's like, it's okay, you can look. She looks out on the periscope. The explanation to her was very simplistic but very effective, which is just because you can't see something doesn't mean it's not there. It was the hidden door, right? That was the whole purpose. Can you see the door? No, it's hidden. Dad hid it. Right. It doesn't mean it's not there. So just because you can't see other people, which in the end it turned out to be reality. There were many of them, the whole, the whole town, in fact, right? They even labeled that man cover New Kingsguard.

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

I yeah, uh again, I I was fully convinced that they were not the monsters. And uh they did a good job of making the breathers seem kind of monster-esque. Yeah. With the whole like hazy body, yellow eyes thing. And uh the whole movie I kept thinking, like, how intelligent are these things? When like when the fire see smoke. Yeah, when the smoke came out, I'm like, okay, sure. Would they they might be able to locate where the smoke came from, but even if they saw all the ash on the ground, how effective are they gonna be? How smart are they to like actually look around and be like, oh, there's ash here, this must be where it came from.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And then when you find out they're humans, you're like, okay, well that makes a lot of sense.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. No, that definitely uh and I was expecting something like because they they're kinda in like shadow most of the time. But you kinda expect them to like be shown and it it's gonna be like this like hideously monstrous thing, but it's literally just dudes in frickin' you know, masks and goggles.

Duffer Brothers And Bad TV Endings

SPEAKER_03

So um this was a movie that was directed and written by what I'm I'm safe to assume the brothers, Duffer brothers.

SPEAKER_00

They're actually they're actually not brothers. I I I'm pretty sure they are. I'm pretty sure I'm not possibly Duffer Brothers? Despite their name, it's actually two girls, they're actually sisters.

SPEAKER_03

So apparently they've done they've done some episodes of Stranger Things, several of them. Many.

SPEAKER_02

They m like they made Stranger Things, I'm pretty sure. Oh, they did. Yeah. No, that's why when you said Duffer Brothers, I was like, huh? Yeah, no, that was like their their Stranger Things is their main source of fame. Magnum opus? They're Magnum Opus. Okay. And then they gave us a shitty ending. What's up with all the shitty endings in TV nowadays, dude?

SPEAKER_03

I realized something, dude. I used to I used to watch this show, old show. You guys probably too young to know it, but old show called Entourage.

SPEAKER_02

And that was I know what Entourage is, man.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you do? Yeah, that's actually somewhat from this time period.

SPEAKER_02

And that was I might not be fucking 82, but like I know what entourage is.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, I was like, his favorite TV show, the uh hieroglyphs that show Cleopatra's rise to power.

SPEAKER_02

You might have never heard of this TV show. It's called Golden Girls.

SPEAKER_03

See, in the 80s they actually had good endings to shows. If the show made it to the end, that was always the problem in the 80s, even in the 90s. I mean, like, the shows didn't make it to the end.

SPEAKER_02

Mid-2010s is when all the show good shows were the their endings were decent. Ending of Breaking Bad, lit.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I give shows I give shows leeway because I I think it really is hard to get an ending that everybody would be satisfied with.

SPEAKER_03

It's hard to do endings, period.

SPEAKER_00

Because I think all endings, people are one just upset that it is ending. Yeah. So there's already you're already on a losing battle. And then on top of that, you're gonna have a lot of people who are just gonna want the happy ending, and it's like, sure, you could do the happy ending, but it is true, it gets boring. Yeah, it's like, well, everything worked out in the end. Great.

SPEAKER_02

Happy happy endings pissed me off. That's like the fucking sopranos. You do you know the ending of Sopranos, Eric? No, you don't know the ending? Uh basically, uh, they're so you know, they're all in the diner. There's this fucking music playing. I'm trying to remember what the song was. Um but there was music playing, it's all happy, and then all of a sudden, you know, oh, like uh his his daughter comes in, you see her walk in, you see this guy get up, walk to the bathroom behind him, and then he like he looks up and then it fucking cuts to black. Endings like that where it just pisses everybody off, I kinda like, not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_00

I d I do too. I like endings where it's like, damn, nobody's happy at the end.

SPEAKER_02

Like when you when you think about it like deeper, that was him like getting shot in the back of the head.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I I do I now that you mention it, I do know of that ending.

SPEAKER_02

I have heard that.

SPEAKER_00

That's also how everybody hates Chris ended.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. I didn't know that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I but I do.

SPEAKER_02

Well he didn't get shot in the head, but he was pulling out his GD score.

SPEAKER_00

I do think that's a good ending where it like it kinda I mean, I like that because it's like that is an ending, and it's a realistic ending for you know, someone in the mob. Yeah. That they that they might end up dead.

SPEAKER_02

That's like hey, that checks out. Breaking bad ended with the guy who had cancer dying because he had cancer. Also gunshot wound, but mostly cancer.

SPEAKER_03

Mostly cancer, he says.

SPEAKER_02

Mo mostly cancer, a little bit of gun, mostly cancer.

SPEAKER_00

I think Iron Legend was a good movie, uh was a good ending. It's like a mix between happy and and well depending on which ending you're talking about.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they're they're they're going with the uh the alternate ending for because they're doing a fucking sequel. They're gonna go with an alternate ending.

SPEAKER_03

That was a movie versus a show. Like How I Met Your Mother is probably one of the more controversial endings. Nobody nobody that I know who followed the whole show liked it. Like it was a very disturbing ending.

SPEAKER_00

There's yeah, definitely things like that are just bad endings.

SPEAKER_03

It was a great show all the way through, and then the last season, but then I heard that uh even IMDB said it was slated for 10 seasons and they cut it short to nine, and so they just forced the ending really quickly.

SPEAKER_00

You know what I think uh a show that was having this is gonna look, Guilty Pleasure of Mine, I I've talked about this, I think. I love Ghost Whisperer, I think that's a great show. I think it's a really great show, and the storyline was doing really well, and it just abruptly and abruptly ends after season three. Oh no. And that sucks. And you could look it up, there's like a whole bunch of articles. Jennifer Love Hewitt was super emotional about it. Basically, they just got cut. It's just all it was. It wasn't anything personal or anything, it was just like we just decided to cut it.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And it sucked because it was like it was actually doing really well at the time, and it had a really decent storyline going through that I was like kind of getting into, and then it cuts off. And then I'm sure you guys might know of or have seen I've heard Firefly is that way. Firefly. Well, yeah, an incredible season, and that's all they got.

SPEAKER_03

They released uh Serenity, the movie, to try to cover up the the bad the bad uh ending of the season. The season.

SPEAKER_02

It happens with anime a lot too, where it'll be either great first season never comes back, great first season, second season's dog shit, or uh it goes all the way and then it's kind of just like a divisive, you know, whether or not people like it or not. Um like Attack on Titan, a lot of people hated the ending. I like the ending personally.

SPEAKER_00

Um I've never seen it, but I do like that show. I could watch it. Um that's why I like limited series though. Yeah. Because like you know exactly how long you're getting into something for.

SPEAKER_03

Like a mini-series kind of thing?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like uh like All of Us Are Dead, for instance. Okay, yeah. I would consider that a limited series because it was only slated for one season. They just they were like, oh, it did really well. I guess we could do a second season, which I don't think is out yet.

SPEAKER_04

Nope.

SPEAKER_00

Um but like I like like the Queen's Gambit, for instance. I think of that personally more like a film than anything, but I like the limited series because it like it gives you the the like it gives you all the positives of a TV show, and but it it doesn't in my opinion it gives you a much better ending because it's all thought out.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

This is exactly where we're getting to. It's just a longer story rather than a TV show where it's like we have a general idea of where we want to go, but it's kinda gonna depend. Because like if an actor dies, then you gotta change everything.

SPEAKER_02

So Yeah, then there's shows that won't fucking end, and then you know, once the main show's done, they just do a bunch of like spin-offs. Uh-uh, Walking Dead. Uh uh Dexter. Although I heard people liked it, liked it, but Dexter was great. New blood, but the the the one after that was a son. The the new one with uh, you know, that one was good, and then they did a like a prequel. It was decent. I like the prequel one.

SPEAKER_00

You know what show I think has just gone on way too long? And I'm just over it. SVU. Love SVU, don't get me wrong, but it's like twenty seven seasons.

SPEAKER_02

Fucking chill out, dude. Same with Grey's Anatomy, bro. I was gonna say shows that just won't fucking end. Yeah, that's like uh that's like one piece for fucking white women is fucking Grey's Anatomy.

SPEAKER_00

That's gotta be such but like so the characters on there who who like hold a more permanent seat on that show, that must be an actor's wet dream. On like Grey's Anatomy? Yeah, where it's like, well, you know, for the characters who know, like, oh, I'm not going anywhere until I'm ready to leave the show. Or I feel like fucking die or or die in real life. Like it's one of the two. But that's why it's like they're set. Like SVU. Like if you get a permanent spot in SVU, you're fucking set until you decide you just don't want to do it anymore.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Like that's an actor's dream, right there. They're on season 13.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's just at a certain point, you're just like it's season 16. Yeah, I was gonna say, I think it's past the halfway point of double digits.

SPEAKER_02

Why are we treating TV shows like The Simpsons?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's like he's always like, God, then he makes me look like an asshole because he puts his nose in his bin right when I say that. Like you weren't going after my guitar center or my guitarist.

SPEAKER_03

He he knows how to play you. He does.

SPEAKER_02

He's a Simpsons, family guy, animated shows like that, they can do like current like current events. Longevity. You know, they can keep making jokes that are with the times. Yeah, I think of Thrones that Well Simpsons just keeps predicting.

SPEAKER_03

Game of Thrones ending was mid.

SPEAKER_02

That's a that's a that's an issue with the fact that the books weren't they're like not done. The last book that or the last thing that happened in the books, I believe, was Jon Snow died. So everything after that in the show was like just all them writing it. Like, oh yeah, he comes back to life, and then oh he fucks his aunt, and then fucking Dragons.

SPEAKER_00

Didn't they kind of do a similar thing with The Walking Dead where like in the in the comics, uh what's his name? Carl Carl.

SPEAKER_02

Carl is the like final person.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's like the last hope for humanity, but in the series they just kill him off.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, that's because he wanted to get paid like an adult and they didn't want to do it.

SPEAKER_03

You mean in the oh no, you know, uh I didn't I didn't read that. Maybe that was the reality behind, but what I had read was that he had actually told them that he was going back to college and uh didn't want to stay locked into this. I was hoping that was the truth.

SPEAKER_00

I would I would stay locked into that as long as possible. Go to college after. For real. It's not age limited.

SPEAKER_02

I think he also cut his hair too. I think I think they had beef with him cutting his hair. Because he had just the long hair for like forever. He's been growing that shit for you know.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I guess I don't know how long or I don't know how much he was getting paid, but my thought would be like if you got a steady gig like that, fucking stick with it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It also but you know and then they were like, Oh, let's keep going after Carl, and then uh Rick dies, but doesn't die because he gets taken in a helicopter, and then there's a whole spin-off with him, and then fucking for some reason Daryl's in Paris.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then they follow the governor and and what was her name? Michelle Do you mean Negan? No, Negan.

SPEAKER_02

They follow Negan and Oh Maggie and love now? I see a picture of them.

SPEAKER_03

No, and then you have Pier the Wild. In front of you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there's that that never made any sense to me. I'm like, the fact that she ever spoke to him again without killing him is just not not human. I don't think Maggie. Yeah, like that that's horrible. I don't care. He's not reformed in any way.

SPEAKER_02

His frickin' eyeball was popping out. Maggie, you've seen it. Jesus.

SPEAKER_00

That was a brutal scene. It was.

SPEAKER_02

I remember when I do as his last words and then died. And you're going kiss the dude who did it? Nah, bruh.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what I remember when that episode came out, that was like hard for some people. Also, that was where they lost my wife.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, he would want you to move on. I didn't fucking say that. I didn't say that at all. Matter of fact, I hope she's in. Sadness. I hope she mourns me every day. I hope there is a fucking what's the thing called for Day of the Dead? Where Dia de Los Mietos? No, the uh the thing that you put the the uh like pictures on. Oh, an altar? Yeah, the ofrenda, the offrenda! I hope there is a goddamn O frienda put up in the house all pictures of me. Bunch of food. Bunch of crosses and candles too? Fuck yeah. Oh, it's like a vigil. That or she needs to, you know, I go, she comes with. Dang. Same with the cats.

SPEAKER_00

Same with the cats, what do they do?

SPEAKER_02

I can't they can't live without me, I can't live without them. Damn. So if they die. And Eric. And me. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'll be okay without you. It's okay. Nah, nah, bro. I can't I can't die.

SPEAKER_02

No, I'll be good.

SPEAKER_00

I can't live without you, bro.

SPEAKER_02

That's fine, I'm not the one dying. I can't die without you, bro. Well, I think you could. Alex comes in one day. TJ passed away today. Like, oh my god, damn. And he just pulls a big ass gun out. He's like, he gave me money. I gotta do it. You know.

SPEAKER_00

Well and then I'm like, wait a minute, I paid him that money.

SPEAKER_02

Jeez. It's like weird. It's exactly as much money as I've sent him.

SPEAKER_00

Wait, I was bad. I was you know, I owed him a bit. It's funny, that's that exact amount.

SPEAKER_02

He said, Oh yeah. Oh yeah, T just said that you owed him money, which means you owe me money, so I'm gonna need that real quick. Venmo me.

SPEAKER_00

Venmo me. Venmo just to get shot. I'm I've Venmo the gun emoji.

SPEAKER_02

Yo, imagine getting robbed and they fucking they pull out a square. Run your Venmo. Run your Venmo, bruv. Run that Venmo, bruv. Give me all the money you got. I don't carry cash. That's fine. We take card.

SPEAKER_00

That's we take card.

unknown

Putting?

SPEAKER_00

That's fine. Open your crypto wallet.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you're gonna see it. They fuck it, they turn the screen to you. They're like, alright, there's gonna they're gonna show a it's like a tip right here. There's gonna be a question that you can answer. 100% tip. Uh you can answer a question. Uh put your email in if you want to get a receipt.

SPEAKER_00

It'll ask you for uh for a survey. Uh it'll text you a survey after this. Uh I'd really appreciate it if you filled this in.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I appre I appreciate you for uh you know going with Stab and Go Inc. Uh, you know. Stab and Go Inc. Shank run away.

SPEAKER_00

What are we fucking talking about? I think we have our new business venture. I have no idea how we got to this topic. We were talking about Family Guy not that long ago.

SPEAKER_02

We were talking about Hidden.

SPEAKER_00

A long time ago. A long time ago.

SPEAKER_03

Were we talking about Hidden? Were we though?

SPEAKER_02

I feel like this whole podcast is just freaking off the

Survival Tropes That Get You Killed

SPEAKER_02

rails.

SPEAKER_00

You know a move that uh the going back to hidden. You know a move that every little girl does in a in a movie that I freaking hate, and I almost would want to like train if I had a daughter, I'd almost want to train her not to do this because it bothers me so much. When they fucking drop a toy and they're like, no, and they turn back and run for the toy, I'm gonna slap you, I'm gonna leave you. Oh, that's what I'm saying. That's ridiculous to me.

SPEAKER_02

Uh we were talking about a quiet place earlier. Yeah. Uh, and you've seen how that ended up when you're supposed to be quiet, but the toy makes noise. Why is one of the rules like be quiet, and then you also have something that makes a lot of noise. Yeah. I guess it never really mattered before.

SPEAKER_00

I'm immediately cutting the screen and taking the batteries out. I think because they were far enough away.

SPEAKER_03

I I think I'm opening that thing up and ripping it out.

SPEAKER_00

Damn, you're gonna be a little sadder in the dark, but at least we'll be alive. But I think before it was safe, like they were they were talking rather normal volume, and like it never really mattered. They were laughing and and talking, and it never really seemed to bother them or scare them. So like that made sense until they were right on top of them, and then it was like, okay, don't say a fucking word anymore. And of course the string would get attached to a uh a bolt on the pipe. That's like when you're already in a bad mood and your belt loop gets stuck on a doorknob or something. That's the luck right there where it's like this would only happen right now.

SPEAKER_03

What can go wrong will go wrong.

SPEAKER_00

It would only happen right now when I'm about to punch a through a door.

Spilled Drinks And Forgetful Mornings

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You know, I was having a fucking annoying ass day yesterday, and then I get home, and you know, you take your phone out, you take your w keys out, you take your wallet out, you set it down. I took my keys out, took my phone out, where's my wallet? And I was like, fuck. So I thought I lost my wallet at work. Turns out I was so tired yesterday, left my wallet here.

SPEAKER_04

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_02

But that was gonna be my last fucking straw, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I work 10 minutes away, but if I leave something at work, it ruins my night.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, it does.

SPEAKER_00

No. I'm I'm like, I could just go grab it, but I won't, and I'm so upset.

SPEAKER_03

I'm the same. I know exactly what you mean. I've done it before.

SPEAKER_02

If I leave my earbuds at the house, a fucking whole day's ruined.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm 15 minutes from work. I okay, that and that's funny that you would say that, because I am a creature of habit. Some people would probably say that I'm OCD. Uh I put things in the exact same spot every single time, and when I don't, I forget them. It will always work. Literally. And I put my earbuds on my phone charger. My phone charger is on the opposite side of the room from my bed, so I actually get up when my alarm goes off. And I usually get up, take my phone off of the charger, take my earbuds off of the charger, bring them over to my nightstand, and then I begin my routine in the morning, including working out, which usually means that I go and put my earbuds in when I go for my run. So this day, for whatever reason, I think when I put my earbuds back in the case, I noticed that it was it was um I I don't know how to say it to you guys. I'm pretty sure it's just red, but the light looked different to me. And I'm like, oh, that's bad. I unplugged it, like I pulled the the earbuds back out and put them back in, and I'm like, that doesn't look right. So I go and I plug it in and I see it change colors. So I was like, okay, it was it was dying. And that was it. That was all it took. And it's funny that you mentioned the days, right? Because this was one of those mornings I just could not fucking get out of the house. There's every single thing went wrong. My daughter flooded the toilet, the the uh kitchen, the ice maker wasn't working, and then I went to go reset it, turn it off, turn it back on, and my dumbass turned it off and left it off. So my wife texted me later that day and was like, uh, I think the ice maker's like really broken because it's completely off. I'm like, shit. No, that was me.

SPEAKER_00

Um I had to fix it recently. It got jammed. It gets jammed. There was too much ice in there.

SPEAKER_02

Isn't it like one of those like ones that go on the counter? No, no, it's in the freezer. It's the yeah, it's the or in the fridge, actually. Yeah, no, we we we uh we got one in our on our fridge. And uh yeah, no, sometimes a random fucking bug that will just get into the little chute that the ice comes down in. Oh and that really fucks your day up when you gotta get some ice water. You gotta fill it, and then there's just a fucking gnat just floating right in the top. Just like why are you flying into the freezer and dying, sir? Get that stop. Taking an ice bath.

SPEAKER_03

It was a cold plunge.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I fucking plunged a little too hard in my fucking drink.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I it was literally one of those days.

SPEAKER_02

Uh soda or something that you can't, you know, you're just like, damn, now I gotta do this fucking gnat soda.

SPEAKER_00

Something that genuinely ruins uh a a day for me. I have two sets of keys. I have a work set and a home set.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And when I forget one of the other, it it's so annoying. Particularly when I forget my work keys. Yeah. Because I could still get around the facility. I like I know the lockbox code and everything. Like, I can get in the way everybody else does. But it just takes me so much more time. And I'm usually yeah, I'm in such a rush that I'm like, okay, I gotta go out this door to optimize my time into my car so I can go run this errand. And I'm like, fuck, I gotta walk all the way to the other side of the facility to get out because I left my fucking keys at home.

SPEAKER_04

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And then I can't pick up or drop off any dogs at that point because I can't leave my car running anymore. So it's uh, it's such a wild inconvenience when when I forget something like that.

SPEAKER_03

And it's just, you know, it's one of those things that's like, okay, just slow it down, right? This this is what happened before we went live tonight. I was racing, trying to hurry up. I was doing the uh the podcast stuff, the shorts and everything that we launch, all the social media videos. So I was trying to race to get in here to start recording. And in that process, I grabbed my drink, I made my drink, tasted it, and I was so happy with it. I was like, oh man, this is gonna be good. And I put it on the edge of the counter, and then I pick up all of my stuff, I pick up the drink, and then I just had one of those like spaz moments. I I can't explain what the hell happened, but my muscles just did one of those, yeah, and I spilled the drink all over myself, got some on my laptop, so I'm like, shit! So I start cleaning it up real quick, drying it off, right? And then I look at the floor and I'm like, I've got ice cubes and and uh drink all over the floor. I'm like, son of a bitch. Did I have it all over my shirt?

SPEAKER_00

I remember one time my mom was my my mom was sitting on her bed under the blankets with a glass of wine and her laptop on her lap. And I was in the room for some reason, we were talking about something, and she just had this moment where I don't know what the hell happened. She was like, she was so shocked when it happened. She just had the glass in her hand, and then just one second where mid-conversation just whoop and just full held it upside down and just dumped all the wine out all over the bed, and she looked so shocked. And I remember the look on her, the look on her face and afterwards, she was like, I don't know why I did that. She's like, I I it was like a like a reflex of like I don't know what the fuck just happened. But I'll never forget that moment. That was very funny.

SPEAKER_02

You ever go to fucking grab something, like you drop something on the ground, and then you go to fucking grab it, and you're like, you try to grab it quick, and then you drop you miss, yes, or you miss, yeah, grab it again, missing or two or three times. And you're just like a broken fucking claw machine. Yeah. Dude, I fucking hate that. Like I'll fuck I'll walk broken claw machine. I'll be walking at work and I'll have to take my keys out to go to the you know, get into a door, I'll drop my keys, I'll reach down, I'll fucking get them to the doorknob, drop them again. Like, am I a fucking white girl in a horror movie? Like, what the fuck is going on, dude? I don't understand why I'm not functioning currently.

SPEAKER_00

My keys are on a on a uh on a string. What do you like a retractable string? Yeah. And so I just keep them, they're always attached to my side. I just I raise them up to the to the door to unlock, and sometimes I'll get them all the way up, and then I'll just let go by accident, and then they come back and slap me in the thigh. It's like ow, fuck. And so I grab them and I hold them up to the door, then I drop it again. I'm like, oh fuck.

SPEAKER_03

Talking just those are those are the things which that brings up the question for things like this movie, you know, all of those spaz moments that everybody has. I guess it's not so bad for this movie, but you brought up a quiet place

Quiet Place Problems And Food Parasites

SPEAKER_03

early on. We were talking about uh Halloween costumes. Think of those kind of random spaz moments in that world.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, think of just sneezing in that world. Sneezing, farting. You've never had a sneeze just sneak up on you when you weren't expecting it? Or like you've never had a fart be a little louder than you thought it was gonna be. Exactly. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I can't I can usually gauge what my farts are gonna do.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think do you think they had a farting room in a quiet place?

SPEAKER_02

I no, they had a fart box. It's probably it's probably like a box, you know, hole on top, and then the inside it's like acoustic foam.

SPEAKER_00

You know, actually, a quiet place is so unrealistic. You ever had explosive diarrhea? Yeah. That just sounds like World War II in there?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

What are you doing then?

SPEAKER_02

Had that earlier, brother. It's like shooting water out of a goddamn hose.

SPEAKER_00

That will say, well, that sounds kind of normal to you.

SPEAKER_03

That's a bad description that makes too much sense.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, wait, it's actually such a good description, though.

SPEAKER_03

That makes way too much sense.

SPEAKER_02

Walk past the bathroom with somebody over bacon grease? What the fuck is happening?

SPEAKER_03

Destin in the chat says TJ got the parasite.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, oh yeah, you're gonna talk about that. Yeah, yeah. Apparently it's getting it's linked to Taco Bell.

SPEAKER_03

I heard that!

SPEAKER_02

No, I heard that just today.

SPEAKER_00

I heard today, yeah. It would never Taco Bell wouldn't do that to you? Taco Bell wouldn't let never do that. Taco Bell. Oh no, not the E. coli lettuce again.

SPEAKER_03

The lettuce.

SPEAKER_00

What was it last time? What was it? Was it Romaine?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I called Rosie because it was it was it was Ohio, Michigan, and she heard Texas. But I called in and I was like, You heard about the the the poop parasite? And she goes, I have actually. And I was like, Yeah. Wash your greens. And she goes, Yeah, I'm sure. She was like, I don't know though. Sounds like it could be kind of cool.

SPEAKER_03

Oh Jesus. That sounds like my wife. My wife says, uh, imagine how much weight those people are losing. I'm like, dude, I don't think that they want to lose that weight. Not all of them, at least. There's some of them who are probably uh body dysmorphic like my wife.

SPEAKER_02

Just poop weight.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, look, I there's there's no better weight loss program than food poisoning.

SPEAKER_03

Uh it happens. You're not eating and you're and you're exiting everything.

SPEAKER_02

There's no better weight loss than ebola.

SPEAKER_00

There's no better weight loss than decomposing.

SPEAKER_02

You'll lose vomit weight, poop weight, water weight, blood weight.

SPEAKER_00

A lot of weight coming off, yeah. Why don't fighters just get Ebola before weigh-ins? I feel like that would just cause them to beat weight.

SPEAKER_03

Just Ebola, just like if you can't survive Ebola, then really how tough are you?

SPEAKER_02

Imagine paying so much money to get to a fight and it lasts two seconds.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. That was that sucked. You know, I I talked about this with a coworker. I fucking really like Max Holloway. He's such a great fighter. The fact that he didn't take that opportunity to just beat the fucking smack out of McGregor, who was talking so much shit. He just looked at the ref like, you're not gonna let this keep going, right?

SPEAKER_02

It's like, dude, he's literally dead. Fucking you can see it. Yeah, like he's not getting out of it.

SPEAKER_00

He's not defending himself. Um It was uh good on Max Holloway. I like him as a fighter.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think we're at an hour for this one.

Winner Picked And Sign-Off

SPEAKER_00

Alright.

SPEAKER_02

Well it'll probably end up being like a 40-minute episode, which is pretty standard.

SPEAKER_00

Um TJ announces a winner and he's like, okay, so you host the next one.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so uh guys, uh there you know, the way our podcast works is we always choose a winner who uh hosts the next episode. Uh and I've tallied up the points. Drum roll, please. TJ, you're the winner for next episode. So we we will see TJ next week. We will be hosting This is a shock. What's your idea for next episode? This election was great. We're we're gonna go through my top 100 movie list and we're gonna see where stuff goes and you're following the code. Where did all these mail-in votes come from? 3 a.m. movies. I like it's crazy. Yeah, no, these were mail-in votes.

SPEAKER_00

Um where did these 11 52 p.m. mail-in votes come in? Dude. Mail-in points. This is ridiculous.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, where did the mail-in points come from? What's the two wins? That means you both are losers.

SPEAKER_03

Especially because the constitution specifically denies the ability for anybody to declare themselves.

SPEAKER_00

I won't winner. I won't declare this to be a lawful and legitimate election.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, no, I uh we will not respect the host's authority in this episode.

SPEAKER_02

I actually transferred my host ship to Eric and he said I was the winner. So thank you for giving me the win, Eric. I don't know. Uh Eric, would you like to would you like to sign us out? SPEAKER_00
